A large pyramidal tree useful for erosion control on riverbanks and waterways, coastal plantings and windbreaks. Foliage is dense at ground level making it good for screening. The needles are a useful mulch for weed control. The timber is good for woodwork and firewood. Plant Casuarina cunninghamiana in an area of full sun, with well drained soils. Once established, Casuarina cunninghamiana is waterwise and can tolerate drought, frost, seasonal water logging and moderate salinity.
