Fraxinus ornus is a large deciduous tree growing to 20m x 12m with smooth dark grey bark. It has dense foliage and a rounded growth habit. The dark pinnate leaves turn yellow to a purplish colour in autumn. It has showy white flowers that cluster together and have a beautiful scent.

Prefers a deep loam but is adaptable to a range of conditions in a full sun position.
