Deciduous, small vase shaped tree with arching branches. The new leaves are a reddish purple and age to a more greeny purple and remain that colour until they fall in autumn.

It has a wonderful display of slightly fragrant pale pink double flowers in early spring. Grows to 5m x 4m in a well drained soil.
